The Carlofortinian Bilancella, or “Battello” measures about 12 meters in length.
It is the typical historical boat of a small island in South-West of Sardinia, called
Carloforte; some of them are actually used as touristic boats in summer.
Because of its flexibility, it is not easy to assign its main use, but its name comes
from a particular fishery, with two identical boats, that proceed togheter using a particular
fishing net with a way called “ a bilancia”.
It is used also in coral fishing, in the tuna fishing and in the transport of minerals.
